Ignatius Home Schoolers (IHS) is a Catholic home school ministry where home schooled students from grades K-12th come together to form a community. Providing opportunities for families to gather together for fellowship and support.

In the Spring of 2017, we decided to start this group one day while talking about the upcoming school year for our children. We really wanted to start a group, so our children could continue attending museum classes. We needed a name for our new group. As the conversation continued we realized our parish did not have a support group for home schooled children with a conducive environment for learning and growing with others in virtue.

Our Name

Our names initials IHS, is also a Christogram, which has been used since the Middle Ages representing the holy name of “Jesus”. IHS represents the first three letters of the Greek name of Jesus, ΙΗΣΟΥΣ. For it is to Him that we give all the glory.

Who We Are

Our families have been growing together in faith together since 2009. As active members of our local parish we are involved in several ministries: Altar Servers, EMHC, EMHC for the homebound, Music, Squires, Squirettes, and the Vocations Committee just to name a few. Kindly note this group is not a ministry at our parish nor affiliated in any way, but hope to one day present this to our parish as an official ministry. Our hope is that by remaining faithful to the teachings of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church we may assist parents in their role as the primary educators of their children.

Yours in Christ Jesus,
Jeannette Brodnik and Lori Kananen
